The Anglo-Portuguese School of London is hosting two Statutory Consultation Drop-in Events to hear from members of the community about their thoughts about the vision and ethos of school, its impact on the local community, the admissions process, demand for places, and site matters. Please check out the Events column on the right-hand side for dates and location.
Welcome to the Anglo-Portuguese School of London (APSoL), a free 4-11 primary school approved by the Department for Education into the ‘pre-opening phase’. The school is planning to open in Wandsworth in September 2020, subject to any statutory approvals required and will be England’s first to provide a bilingual curriculum in English and in Portuguese.
APSoL will have high expectations of all pupils and will deliver a broad and balanced dual language curriculum, dividing the main subjects between English and Portuguese to immerse the pupils in both. Pupils will learn to communicate fluently in two of the five most spoken languages globally, while also acquiring the skills necessary to cooperate, learn, and interact with each other and the world. Enrichment and co-curricular activities will provide opportunities for all pupils to foster their abilities and interests.
We intend to open with two Reception classes and grow organically by adding two Reception classes of 30 children each year until we reach our full capacity of 420 pupils. Discussions are also in progress with the Department about approving a separate nursery provision in its own area of the school building.
If you have a child due to start Reception in September 2020 and wish to be notified of the admissions process, please register here.
